Prep & Primary Schools' Choral Day
A brand new event for this academic year, the Music Department at Pangbourne College are delighted to invite your students for a day of singing on Thursday 27 February 2020.
The day will be led by Director of Music Ellie Calver, along with other specialist choral and music staff. Ellie is a music graduate of Worcester College Oxford where she held a choral scholarship, and her experience since includes teaching music and singing, performing professionally and leading many choirs, both children and adult.
Girls and boys from Year 3 - Year 6 are invited to participate. Year 3 children will require some experience of singing, whilst children in Years 4 - 6 do not require specific choral or singing experience, just the enthusiasm to learn. By the end of the day children will have a greater appreciation of traditional and modern choral music, feel more confident with their own voice and performance skills, and have great fun singing together.
Children will be split into groups based on their previous singing experience, and their day will include small group sectionals, fun vocal exercises, and a massed choir concert at the end of the day (to which all parents are very welcome!).
The day will look something like this:
09:30 - 10:00 Arrival, Registration and welcome
10:00 - 11:45 Morning vocal exercises and activities (with breaks)
11:45 - 12:15 Hot lunch for all participants
12:15 - 14:45 Afternoon sections and concert pieces (with breaks)
14:45 - 15:30 Rehearsals in the Falkland Islands Memorial Chapel
15:30 - 16:00 CONCERT featuring all participants
The more children who participate, the bigger the grand finale.
Please note that the Choral Day is now full - if you would like to be put on the waiting list for the event, please contact organiser Rachel Bampton.
