Key Dates and Process
Initial A Level choices are made in February in Form 5 (Year 11). Changes are possible after February, subject to timetabling constraints. Students are asked to confirm their A Level choices on the first day of the academic year following the publication of GCSE results.
Many pupils will already have tentative A Level subject ideas, though it is essential not to confirm these choices before having consulted in depth with tutors, subject teachers and parents. In particular, we encourage pupils to think carefully about all the new subjects on offer in the Sixth Form and whether they have the practical skills and approach that would flourish in a subject.
Final choices do not have to be confirmed until early September and the intention of initiating the process early is to allow ample time for due reflection and consultation.
The College strives to accommodate all students' A Level choices, but cannot guarantee them in some instances because of factors such as timetable clashes or insufficient student uptake.
