Pangbourne is a unique place where pupils are able to enjoy the familiarity of a co-educational learning environment mixed with a litany of traditional quirks which owe to the school’s previous incarnation as a nautical college.
The students are a mixture of day pupils, part-boarders and full boarders spread among the Junior House (Dunbar) and six Senior Divisions (Houses) – Harbinger, Hesperus, Illawarra, Macquarie, Port Jackson and St George.
Key to the strength of the Pangbourne community is the pastoral care, rated ‘Excellent’ in the 2014 ISI Inspection Report, which the College provides.
Within each Division, there is a team of staff to ensure all pupils are progressing academically, being supported and developing their emotional well-being.
No stone is left unturned in creating a happy environment within the Divisions and, under the enthusiastic leadership of the Housemasters/mistresses, pupils feel a sense of pride and loyalty to their respective Divisions.
The commitment displayed by the Divisional staff means boarders and part-boarders have an array of trips and activities to take part in on a weekly basis, and can take advantage of the many study facilities to progress with their academic work.
