Swimming is a minor sport for both boys and girls in the Summer term.
The main aim of swimming at Pangbourne is to improve fitness and provide an alternative sport for students.
Dunbar (Forms 1 and 2) students have one afternoon of swimming a week learning basic techniques and students in Forms 3 and 4 can opt to do swimming alongside their major sport and enter a gala.
The Sixth Form and Form 5 can choose swimming as their main sport in the Summer term which gives them the opportunity to train four times a week and enter three or four galas involving other schools.
Swimmers are encouraged to improve their strokes in a fun, relaxed atmosphere.
Pangbourne links up with Brockhurst and Marlston House with Dunbar students using its facilities and swimming coaches, while Form 3 and above use Pangbourne’s outdoor, heated 25-metre, six-lane swimming pool which has two changing rooms with showers.
There is an Inter-Divisional swimming gala held at Pangbourne every year which is one of the highlights of the Summer term.
