Every day at Pangbourne is filled with exciting opportunities for pupils to get stuck into. We’d love to give you a snapshot of what daily life is like with us.

Following a nutritious breakfast for Boarders in our Mess Hall, days at Pangbourne begin with registration: pupils gather in their Divisions (boarding houses) to start off the day as a community. Here they touch base with their peers and are provided with any announcements or notices.

Morning registration is followed by another gathering depending on the weekday, whether this be a service, ‘Muster’ (assembly) with their Division, Congers (which is a lively sing-a-long with pupils and staff), time with their tutor followed by parade practice, or a Housemaster Assembly. Making time for these congregations each day is the best way to foster relationships between staff and pupils, and between pupils in different year groups.

After morning lessons, pupils have a break during which they can enjoy downtime with their peers. They are able to spend time socialising in their Divisions and enjoy snacks to refuel. More lessons follow break, before our community gathers in the Mess Hall once again to enjoy a nutritious meal together, with many varied food options to choose from.

Final lessons take place after lunch, except on a Wednesday when these are replaced by extended sport activities and fixtures. We make sure to set aside adequate time for these periods of physical activity on a weekly basis to develop pupil fitness, team spirit and offer plentiful opportunities for exploring other interests outside the classroom.

The day ends with a Tutor Salute whereby pupils check in with their tutors at the end of the day - a time to reflect and raise any concerns - and then activities and clubs.

Boarders take their Supper in the Mess Hall, after which they have some quiet time in the Division to focus on academic work, before choosing from a range of activities to choose from until bedtime.

Every day is structured but no day is the same! There’s always something new to learn and experience, keeping learning fresh and engaging for our pupils.

Sample Timetables

You can download a typical timetable here. On Wednesdays the timetable changes slightly to accommodate College sports fixtures, and the timetables vary slightly between the Winter Term and Summer Term to ensure we make use of sunlight during the day for sporting activities.

It has been an excellent seven years for George at Pangbourne and we will be sad to see it come to an end. George has flourished exactly as we had hoped.
