On Friday 20 June, we celebrated our first but certainly not last, Pangbourne Proms event. This was a delightful evening of music from our very own talented musicians spanning across all year groups. The programme included voice, violin, piano and drums solos as well as performances from our College and Dubar choirs and the marching band.
All of our guests arrived prepped with their picnic set up and relaxed in the gorgeous weather whilst our performers put on a fantastic show and the ice cream van provided the tasty sweet treats!
In addition to enjoying the fantastic entertainment we welcomed the exciting announcement of our brand new initiative, Transforming Futures - Pangbourne’s campaign to provide life-changing Sixth Form boarding bursaries for children from underserved communities and those with experience of the care system in West Berkshire.
Old Pangbournian and former Headmaster of Rugby and Westminster, Patrick Derham, shared how his life was transformed by a bursary at Pangbourne, leading him to set up the
#thearnoldfoundation at Rugby, and his pride in Chairing this new initiative.
🎓Transforming Futures will initially fund two pupils per year and, by 2030, the campaign will raise £250,000 per year to support five 110% transformational bursaries.
🎓 Ahead of the official launch, reflecting the exceptional generosity of the Pangbournian Community, over £50,000 had already been committed to the campaign, and the first Award, celebrating former Head Anthony Hudson, was confirmed on Friday night.
🎓 The whole community will benefit from being part of the diverse team and the Head’s vision is to see all Pangbournians leave the College with a strong moral compass, with compassion for fellow students and with the heart and drive to leave a positive mark on the world.
🎓Since 1917, the College has provided life-changing educational experiences to pupils in need and the new campaign will reconnect with the College’s founding vision.
We can’t wait to see the positive impacts this new campaign will have on the whole Pangbourne community.
A huge thank you to everyone involved in this new event and after its success we are looking forward to bringing it back next year where it will be bigger and better than before!
