Academic Competition

In March, Year 7 pupils took part in an adapted version of Fortnum and Mason's The Platinum Pudding Competition. Maisie was the overall winner with a Jubilee themed Battenberg cake.

On Monday 23 May, Maisie iced her Battenberg cakes with Head Chef, Mr Gary Fox. The following day, with the assistance of Catering Manager, Mr Iain Headley, she shared these cakes in a special Platinum Jubilee Pudding Competition Winner’s Breakfast. Everyone got to taste and enjoy Maisie's wonderful creation!

At the end of the breakfast, Year 7 watched the BBC One programme in which the finalists of the national competition were judged. The winner of that competition was Jemma whose lemon Swiss roll Amaretti trifle had especially inspired the panel of judges, among them Mary Berry.

After Half Term those who were runners-up in the Year 7 competition will have an opportunity to create their puddings in the school kitchen, too. Thank you to both Dr Clare Harraway and Mrs Rosemarie Seccombe-Wade for creating such a creative initiative for the Year 7 pupils.
