The drama productions are an extension of the lessons learnt in the classroom and an opportunity to showcase the very best young actors and actresses at Pangbourne. The productions are always very well attended and directed meticulously and ambitiously by the Drama Department. Students are able to further their drama skills formally by taking Trinity exams at a variety of different grades.

Pangbournians are treated to three annual plays at the College – the whole school College production, a Dunbar (Forms 1 and 2) play and the newest Drama event in the calendar, a Form 3 production entered as part of the National Theatre Connections competition.

Entry into the National Theatre Connections competition – the UK’s largest youth theatre festival – first became part of the Pangbourne calendar in 2014 with Sixth Formers performing Luke Norris’ comedy Hearts and has since become a vehicle in which Form 3 students come together to perform as a year group.

The Department also arranges for students to take their Trinity Drama exams in a range of different Grades to further their progression in the subject.

Each year, students in all year groups go on trips to theatres to see a variety of productions and this serves as a useful tool in developing pupils’ interest and passion for Drama.
