Cricket is a major boys’ sport in the Summer Term, regularly fielding eight teams on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Pangbourne College Cricket Club’s aim is to ensure that all players fulfil their potential, love playing the sport and compete at the highest level they can.
Pangbourne College has three senior teams, two U15 teams, two U14 teams and two Dunbar (Junior House) teams. Looking to the future, our aim is to encourage the growth of the club by increasing participation in the sport and to also incorporate Girls’ cricket into the club.
The Anthony Hudson Pavilion and the square on Big Side are home to the 1st XI throughout the summer. There are two squares on Bowden for the U15 and U14 teams, with an additional two squares on White’s which are home to the Dunbar teams.
Our fixtures are typically played on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons against other schools and colleges, resulting in exciting, competitive cricket. The fixture card often features strong opposition such as Reading Blue Coat School, Bradfield College and Lord Wandsworth College. Every year, the 1st XI also enjoy the opportunity to test themselves in the timed format against the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), South Oxfordshire Amateurs and a returning Old Pangbournians XI on Founders’ Day.
Pangbourne College is home to more than a dozen cricket coaches, many of whom are England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) qualified and have played the sport at a high standard themselves. The relationships built at the club during the summer season reinforce connections pupils and students make in all other areas of the College.
