Pangbourne College Equestrian Team are Reserve National Champions in 90cm Showjumping

Pangbourne College equestrian team of Olivia, Izzy, Isla, and Thomasin are now Reserve National Champions as a result of their performance in the 90cm Showjumping class at the National Schools Equestrian Association Championships in October at Keysoe. They just missed out on the title.

The Pangbourne College team did incredibly well having been placed 4th in the first round of the final and then they jumped two places up the leaderboard in the second round. A nail-biting final rider (literally) of the opposing team rattled several fences, but they all stayed up and their overall time was just faster than our team’s.

In the 90cm Jumping with Style class the College team of Olivia, Isla, and Thomasin  succeeded in gaining 8th position. This was a huge achievement for a team of three.

There were some good individual performances, too, including Isla  who took 10th place out of 76 riders in the 90cm Showjumping class. Not only was this a popular class, but Isla had also ridden with her team in the same class, unlike many of her other competitors.

Mrs Stacey Mackie, Head of Riding, said, ‘Handling pressure well is always the challenge at the Nationals and I am very proud of all of our riders in the way in which they approached their different classes individually and in their teams. As a result of this year’s performances we are looking forward to training hard for next year’s Championships!’
