Boarding Competition

On your marks, get set… BAKE! On Friday 17 March our divisions (houses) created an array of impressive showstopper cakes as they competed in Divisional Bake Off. The King’s Coronation was a fitting theme ahead of May’s celebrations.

From Union Jack designs to a replica of Windsor Castle, there certainly wasn’t a lack of creativity. Judging took place in the café, with Miss Pennington, Mr Picker, Dr Hennah, and Dr Hart stepping into the roles of baking-gurus Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith.

Each division produced impressive showstoppers, with our Macquarie division baking three cakes! In their very own words… ‘Why bake one cake when you can bake three?’.

Congratulations to Illawarra for being the overall winners, with Macquarie taking second place and St George third. Well done to each division for their tremendous efforts and we think everyone deserves a ‘Paul Hollywood Handshake’!

Mr Tom Cheney, Assistant Head Boarding, said: ‘What a brilliant night! Seeing the pupils and staff come together during Divisional Bake Off was one of those moments where you realise why you love doing the job you do. Another fantastic effort from Team Pangbourne.’
